A sexually liberated black and queer song of Simi Valley to Silver Lake with a personal history of LA punk in between, The Life of Sean DeLear is a moving, exciting, touching, funny, sweet, and deeply affectionate tribute to the iconic Sean D. Featuring glimpses of his band Glue, his time living with Susan Tyrrell, hanging with John Sex, encountering-- and creating-- celebrity myths and mysteries, the film also includes interviews with Ann Magnuson, Redd Kross, Rick Owens, and more.

"This portrait-documentary tells the story of musician, performance artist and scenster Sean DeLear. From his early childhood in Simi Valley to the posthumous publication of his teenage diaries. It is a vibrant trip through the underground scene of LA, New York and Vienna using his video, foto, and diary archive... Sean documented his whole life from 8mm to Hi8 to digital, in fotos and writing since the late 70s. It is an inspiring collection of flashlights through the last decades that show a vivid testimonial of the music and art scene, the changing of media included. - Zizenbacher

"Like a young Diana Ross, Sean DeLear was all ferocity and vulnerability..."—Rick Owens
